What does the Goodyear Welted method mean?
The Goodyear Welted method is an industrial way of making shoes. This method is invented in 1871, when the American Charles Goodyear Jr. developed a technique where the upper leather, the welt and the sole are stitched together. This ensures that the construction of the shoe is very strong, causing that the upper leather, the welt and the sole can not go separate from each other. To achieve this there is developed a special Goodyear weltmachine. This method ensures that the construction of the shoe can last decades. By this technique the shoe is very strong and also durable. Unlike other techniques where the sole and/or welt goes separate from the upper leather.
